The Great American Road Trip: Reflections

Ten days and 3,175 miles later, I’ve come to the end of my cross-country road trip. I’ve seen eleven states, three baseball games, and countless roads and highways. This journey has been a mixed bag of emotions, all together exciting and exhausting, grueling and relaxing. Through it all, I knew this day would come—I enjoy a flight back home leaving Ryan in Philadelphia to create a new one. Throughout this adventure with Ryan I’ve thought about our desire for what is familiar—what is comfortable—on a road trip that was inherently uncomfortable.

The Great American Road Trip: Day 9

Today was our first full day in Philadelphia. After running some errands in the morning, we hopped on the train into the city to catch the Phillies game.

Baseball Game 3: Arizona Diamondback 5 vs Philadelphia Phillies 9 at Citizens Bank Park

While this was probably the most exciting game we saw on our trip (the home team finally won!) Citizens Bank Park didn’t measure up to Wrigley Field or even Target Field. It was a beautiful stadium but it didn’t have the history of Wrigley Field or the atmosphere of Target Field.

After the game, Ryan and I went to Triumph Brewing Co for dinner-thanks for the recommendation, Rachel!
